Nothing Phone — a guide to the series

Nothing phones stand out with a back that shows internal components and Glyph LEDs that signal notifications and charging. This matters when choosing a case: an opaque cover hides the lighting. The brand's models fall into three groups.

The numbered series — Phone (1), (2) and (3)

The Nothing Phone (1) introduced the Glyph interface with LEDs on the back and Qi wireless charging. The Phone (2) has a 6.7-inch screen, IP54 resistance and 15 W Qi wireless charging. In the Nothing Phone (3), the LED strips were replaced by a round Glyph Matrix LED array; the phone has a 6.67-inch screen, an IP68 rating and 15 W wireless charging. For models with wireless charging, it is worth choosing thin cases that do not get in the way of the charger.

The “a” series — Phone (2a), (3a), (4a) and their variants

The more affordable models charge by cable. The Phone (2a) and (2a) Plus have an identical 161.74 × 76.32 × 8.55 mm body, so they share accessories. The Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro have similar dimensions, but the Pro version has a periscope telephoto lens and a different camera island, so their accessories are separate. In the Phone (4a), the full Glyph interface was replaced by a vertical Glyph Bar LED strip, and the (4a) Pro has different dimensions from the (4a).

CMF by Nothing — CMF Phone 1, CMF Phone 2 Pro and CMF Watch

CMF phones have a mounting point and visible screws on the back, to which accessories such as stands or lanyards are attached. The CMF Phone 1 has no wireless charging or NFC. For the CMF Watch, you will find screen glass and films.

Which case and glass should you choose for a Nothing phone?

• Clear hybrid cases — they show the Glyph LEDs and the design of the back, combining a hard back with a flexible frame.
• Rugged and flip — for those who care most about protection; they hide the lighting.
• Tempered and hybrid glass — applied to flat screens, also in privacy versions.
• Hydrogel, matte and ceramic films — a thin alternative to glass.
• Camera glass and back films — they protect the lenses and the transparent panel from scratches.

What to look for when buying Nothing accessories

Model names often differ by a single letter or word — the (3a), (3a) Pro and (3a) Lite are three different phones. Choose accessories with the exact model name, and for cases for phones with wireless charging, check that they are not too thick for the charger.
