Why choose a smart ceiling light?
A smart ceiling light is the lighting centre of an entire room. Unlike a classic fitting with a bulb, a smart ceiling light offers full brightness and colour temperature control with no additional dimmers or replacement bulbs. Control is available from the app, a remote, a voice assistant or automatically — for example, the lamp turns off when you leave the room (models with a presence sensor) or gradually brightens in the morning as a light alarm.
Installation is no different from a classic fitting: the lamp screws onto the ceiling back-box and connects to the 230 V supply. No additional low-voltage installation or wiring replacement is needed.
Yeelight Arwen — premium series for large rooms
The Arwen series is Yeelight's top ceiling light range, designed for living rooms, large bedrooms and open-plan spaces of 15–40 m². It features high power (up to 80 W in the 600D models), a dual LED layer (direct + indirect for even light distribution) and a decorative ring that backlights the lamp's edge from below:
- Yeelight Arwen 550S and 450S — round, "Starry" version with a decorative star pattern on the shade; 450S for up to ~20 m², 550S for up to ~30 m²
- Yeelight Arwen 550C and 450C — classic version without the star pattern, minimalist design
- Yeelight Arwen 600D — largest model, 600 mm diameter, up to 80 W, for 35–40 m² rooms; dual lighting (top + bottom)
- Yeelight Arwen 500D — mid-range D series, for 25–30 m²
All Arwen models support WiFi + Bluetooth control, compatible with Alexa, Google Home and (selected versions) Apple HomeKit.
Yeelight Galaxy — star patterns and adjustable white
The Galaxy series features a shade with a star effect or a matte white pattern on the ceiling. Available in 450 and 480 mm diameters, with 2700–6500 K colour adjustment and up to 50 W power:
- Yeelight Galaxy 450 (white) and 480 (white) — classic white shade, clean lines, for bedrooms and studies
- Yeelight Galaxy 450 (starry) and 480 (starry) — shade with a cut-out star pattern creating a ceiling projection when the lamp is on
Yeelight Mercury — everyday series with presence sensor
The Mercury series offers solid, economical lamps for everyday use — bedrooms, kitchens and hallways. Key models:
- Yeelight Mercury C300, C380, C480 — round flush-mount lights with CW (warm + cool white) colour adjustment, WiFi control, 28–50 W
- Yeelight MercuryE C260 and C300 — versions with a built-in presence sensor; the lamp turns on when you enter the room and off after a set period of absence; ideal for hallways, corridors and walk-in wardrobes
Yeelight Meteor — affordable price, complete features
The Meteor series offers a price-to-feature ratio that makes it one of the most popular choices. Available in four diameters:
- Yeelight Meteor C230 — smallest, for 8–12 m² rooms, bathroom, wardrobe
- Yeelight Meteor C300 — bedroom, children's room, study (12–18 m²)
- Yeelight Meteor C400 — living room, dining room (18–25 m²)
- Yeelight Meteor C500 — spacious living rooms and open-plan kitchen-diners (25–35 m²)
Yeelight Jupiter D — RGB for living rooms and entertainment rooms
Jupiter D is the only Yeelight ceiling series offering full RGB — the ceiling light can change colour to any of millions of shades, create dynamic colour animations or operate in white mode for everyday lighting. Available in three sizes: C400, C500 and C600. A standout choice for a gaming room, home cinema or living room where visual effect matters.
Yeelight Mars — edge backlighting as a decorative effect
The Mars series features edge backlighting — an additional LED ring around the shade perimeter creates a gentle glow at the ceiling, striking both during the day and at night. Available in C300 and C400 sizes — for bedrooms and smaller living rooms.
Other Yeelight models and C2001/C2201/A2001/A2101 series
Yeelight also offers several independent series and individual models:
- Yeelight Crystal Ceiling Light Mini — round lamp with crystal decorative elements, for bedrooms and hallways
- Yeelight Ceiling Light C2001C/C2201C — flush-mount series in various diameters (235–550 mm), CW adjustment
- Yeelight A2001/A2101 — series with round (R900) and square/oblong variants, available in "starry" finish
- Yeelight Light Pro 320 — compact, white or black housing
- Yeelight LED Ceiling Light — basic model for bedrooms and studies
- Yeelight A2001C450 — round flush-mount with CW + Bluetooth adjustment
BlitzWolf — lamps with remote or smart WiFi
For those who prefer a physical remote without app configuration:
- BlitzWolf BW-LT38 (24 W, remote) — economical LED ceiling light with colour and brightness adjustment via remote
- BlitzWolf BW-LT40 (2200 lm, remote) — more powerful option for larger rooms
- BlitzWolf BW-CLT1 and BW-CLT2 — smart WiFi, control via Tuya/Smart Life app, compatible with Alexa and Google Home
Control protocols and integrations
Yeelight lamps support two protocols independently: WiFi and Bluetooth. WiFi enables remote control from anywhere in the world, time automations and voice assistant integration. Bluetooth provides local control — reliable even without internet, but range is limited to the immediate vicinity. Most models support both modes simultaneously.
If Apple HomeKit is important to you, check the compatibility information for each model, as not all Yeelight series support HomeKit natively. BlitzWolf CLT lamps operate in the Tuya ecosystem, compatible with Google Home and Alexa.
How to choose a ceiling light for a room size?
General rule: 20–30 W per 10 m² of room with adjustable LED colour temperature. For living rooms with high ceilings (above 3 m) use the upper end of the power range. Shade size should match the room — a shade too small looks lost in the centre of a large ceiling. Helpful rule: shade diameter (cm) ≈ room diagonal (m) × 7. For a 4×5 m room (diagonal ~6.4 m) the optimal shade is ~45 cm — e.g. Arwen 450 or Galaxy 450.

FAQ — Smart ceiling lights
How to choose a ceiling light for a room size?
Allow 25 W per 10 m² for LED lamps with colour adjustment. For a 20 m² room a 45–50 W lamp is sufficient — e.g. Arwen 550C or Meteor C500. Match shade size to proportions: in a 4×4 m room choose a 40–45 cm shade; in a 5×6 m living room — 50–60 cm. Arwen D series lamps are worth considering for spaces with ceilings above 2.8 m.
Does a Yeelight lamp work with HomeKit?
Some Yeelight models support Apple HomeKit natively — check the specific product specification. Models with HomeKit can be identified by the relevant logo on the box and in the description. Other Yeelight models work with Google Home and Alexa. HomeKit can also be added via a gateway or hub running on Home Assistant or Homebridge.
How to control a ceiling light by voice?
After connecting the lamp to the Yeelight app and linking the account to Amazon Alexa or Google Home, simply say "Alexa, turn on the living room light" or "OK Google, dim the bedroom lamp to 30%". You can also create voice routines combining multiple devices — e.g. "Goodnight" turns off all lamps, sets the night thermostat temperature and locks the door locks.
