Galaxy Tab S12 series — models and differences

The Galaxy Tab S12 series includes the S12+ and S12 Ultra — both with AMOLED displays and an S Pen in the box. They differ mainly in size, which determines the choice of cases and glass:

• Galaxy Tab S12+ — 12.6-inch screen, 289.5 × 187.8 × 5.3 mm, approx. 553 g. A balance between a large workspace and portability.
• Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra — 14.6-inch screen, 326.3 × 208.5 × 5.1 mm, approx. 692 g. The largest tablet in the series, for working with the stylus and several windows at once.

Accessories are not interchangeable between these models. Also be careful with previous generations: the Tab S12+ has a larger screen than the Galaxy Tab S10+ with its 12.4-inch display, and the Galaxy Tab S11 series had no Plus version. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has the same dimensions as the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, and some manufacturers describe their cases as fitting both models. With glass and cases, though, check that the S12 Ultra is named in the description.

Galaxy Tab S12 case — how to choose

For the Galaxy Tab S12+ and S12 Ultra you can choose rugged cases with reinforced corners, slim hybrid cases, flip cases with a stand and models with an S Pen holder. A holder keeps the stylus from falling off in your bag, and the cover protects the screen in transit. If the tablet is to replace a laptop, consider a case with a detachable keyboard; standalone Bluetooth keyboards are in the keyboards section.

Galaxy Tab S12+ and S12 Ultra screen protectors

For both tablets you can choose hybrid glass, ceramic films, matte privacy glass and tempered glass. Cases and screen protectors for the series are made by brands such as Spigen, Tech-Protect, BizonMobile and GrizzGlass. When working with the stylus, a paper-texture matte film works well — it adds resistance to the S Pen tip and reduces glare. Tempered glass offers better scratch resistance but a smoother surface.

What to look out for with Tab S12 series accessories

• Check the model in the tablet's Settings — the S12+ or S12 Ultra name must match the product description.
• A keyboard case adds weight to the setup, which is noticeable with the Ultra.
• Spare or additional styluses are in the styluses for phones and tablets category.
