Accessories for the Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 Pro

The Redmi Note 17 series covers two phones of similar styling but different dimensions — and, against intuition, it is the basic version that is larger. The Redmi Note 17 has a 6.99-inch screen, while the better equipped Redmi Note 17 Pro has 6.83 inches. The Pro suffix therefore means a smaller, not a larger body, which is a frequent source of mistakes when ordering a case.

The models also differ in factory screen protection: the basic version has Gorilla Glass 7i, the Pro the stronger Victus 2. In both cases a protective layer still makes sense, because factory glass is responsible for scratch resistance, not for cushioning a fall onto an edge.

Tempered glass on a flat screen

The screens in this series are flat, which is good news when choosing protection: tempered glass adheres over the whole surface, leaves no bubbles at the edges and does not peel off at the sides, as it can do on curved panels. A flat panel also means fitting is simpler — it is easier to get it on without a shift and without specks underneath.

When choosing, note whether the glass has an oleophobic coating. Without it the screen collects fingerprints faster and the finger slides over it worse — a difference you feel every day, even though it is invisible in a product photo.

Cases and body protection

For phones in this bracket people most often choose flexible cases — thin and cheap to replace — or reinforced variants, with thickened corners that carry the energy of a fall. If the camera stands above the back, a case with a raised rim around the module turns out to be practical: it protects the lens glass when you put the phone down on a worktop.

How to check your model

You will find the full marking of the phone in the settings, in the section with device information, or on the sticker on the box. It is worth doing before ordering: phones from one series can look deceptively similar from the front and differ by a few millimetres in height and in the position of the fingerprint reader. With a case those few millimetres decide whether the buttons land in the right place, and with glass — whether the edge does not run onto the curve of the frame.
