Galaxy A80 series — two models, two designs
The A8x series is the upper tier of the Galaxy A line, with some unusual solutions. Accessories for each model are in a separate subcategory, because the bodies are not interchangeable.
Galaxy A80
The Galaxy A80 has no front camera in the screen. The rear camera module slides out of the top edge and rotates forward when you switch to selfie mode. According to GSMArena, the phone has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, a 165.2 × 76.5 × 9.3 mm body, a Gorilla Glass 6 back and an aluminium frame. The fingerprint reader is optical, under the screen. Some accessories are labelled A80/A90 — this is the same phone, sold in some markets as the Galaxy A90.
Galaxy A82 5G
The Galaxy A82 5G, known in Korea as the Galaxy Quantum 2, has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen (120 Hz) with a punch-hole front camera, a 161.9 × 73.8 × 8.1 mm body and a triple camera with a 64 MP main lens. It is noticeably thinner and lighter than the A80.
Cases for the Galaxy A80 series
On the Galaxy A80, a case must leave the top edge free, as that is where the camera slides out — so slim back-and-sides covers work best for this model, such as ultra-thin clear or matte cases from PURO and Crong. Before fitting one, check that the pop-up mechanism moves freely.
Glass and film for the Galaxy A80 and A82 5G
- Hybrid glass — thin and flexible, it does not crack in a fall like classic tempered glass.
- Full-screen protective glass — with a black frame that hides the edge of the protector.
- Ceramic film — stiffer and scratch-resistant.
- Matte privacy glass — limits how visible the screen is from the side.
- Camera lens protector — for the Galaxy A82 5G, it protects the protruding lenses.
