Galaxy A80 — a design that changes how you choose accessories

The Galaxy A80 is a smartphone with a rotating camera: when you switch to selfie mode, the top part of the body slides up and the set of three lenses with a 48 MP main sensor rotates 180 degrees to shoot from the front. The phone measures 165.2 × 76.5 × 9.3 mm and weighs about 220 g. The front is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, the back by Gorilla Glass 6, and the frame is made of aluminium. The Super AMOLED display has a 6.7-inch diagonal and a resolution of 1080 × 2400 pixels, and the fingerprint reader is located under the display.

Which case should you choose for the Galaxy A80?

The camera mechanism moves the top section of the body, so a Galaxy A80 case must not block it. That is why it is worth going for models designed for this phone rather than universal covers — a properly fitted case leaves the sliding module free to move and does not cover the lenses once they have rotated.

• Clear cases — thin and light, they preserve the look of the glass back while protecting it from scratches.
• Silicone cases — soft to the touch, they improve the grip on this fairly heavy phone with its slippery glass back.

The glass back and aluminium frame look good, but they do not cope well with drops onto hard surfaces. Even a thin case reduces the risk of cracking the rear panel and scratching the edges of the frame.

Screen glass for the Galaxy A80 — full coverage without cut-outs

Galaxy A80 accessories do not fit other Samsung phones — the rotating camera design was an exception in the Galaxy A series. The Galaxy A82 5G is also built completely differently, with a classic camera layout, a punch-hole for the front camera in the screen and a smaller body.
