Xiaomi 18 Pro Max — a body that needs accessories of its own
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is the larger of the two variants in the series, and it is the one that asks the most of a case. The back is dominated by a wide horizontal camera island with rounded corners: two round lenses stacked one above the other on the left, an extra colour touchscreen on the right. The third lens and the flash sit in a separate elongated module below the island. The optics carry the Leica name, and the body is engraved LEICA VARIO-SUMMILUX 1:1.67-2.4/17-75 ASPH.
An island with a screen — one cutout, two elements
The rear display shows app cards and responds to touch, so a case needs a cutout for the whole island rather than two holes for the lenses. That is the first filter to apply when you are browsing covers for this model — most designs drawn for classic camera modules drop out at this stage.
With a body this large it is also easy to go wrong the other way: a cutout that is too wide leaves the edge of the island unprotected, and that is the most exposed part of the back when the phone lands flat. Look for a case whose cutout frame hugs the module closely, without reaching onto the surface of the screen.
A big body and a large battery
The Max variant holds a cell of around 8500 mAh, so the phone has real weight to it and rarely lends itself to one-handed use. In practice what counts is the grip, and how much thickness the case adds. Covers with a textured back, contoured sides or a built-in strap genuinely make a body like this easier to hold. A case with a magnetic ring earns its place in the car, where ordinary spring-clamp mounts are often too narrow.
A stand is worth thinking about as well. At this weight a phone propped against a mug slides off the table, and a case with a fold-out foot or a ring grip solves the problem without another gadget in your bag.
