BYD accessories — finding your way through the model names

The BYD range is growing in several families with similar-sounding names, so check the exact designation of your car before you buy. The BYD Seal is an electric saloon, while the Seal U DM-i is a plug-in hybrid SUV. The Sealion 7 is an electric SUV with a coupé silhouette. The Seal 5 DM-i is sometimes written as Seal 05 and the Seal 6 DM-i Touring as Seal 06 — both spellings appear in product names, but they refer to the same cars. Then there are the city-sized Dolphin Surf and Atto 2 and the compact Atto 3. Accessories for the BYD Seal U and the other models include films for the screen, instrument cluster, sills, boot lip, pillars, door handles, headlights, bumper and mirrors — the product name states the exact range of parts for a given model and model year.

Car screen protector for BYD

In a BYD most functions are operated by touch, so the screen soon gets covered in fingerprints and scratches from rings or keys. CarDisplay Protection is chosen by screen size:

• 10.1" — Atto 2 and Dolphin G,
• 12.8" — Atto 2, Seal 5 DM-i and Seal 6 DM-i Touring,
• 15.6" — Atto 3, Seal U DM-i and Sealion 7,
• Seal and Dolphin Surf — films cut for the factory screen of each model.

Separate films also protect the Virtual Cockpit, and the multi-piece kits cover several displays at once. The ceramic film keeps colours and touch sensitivity intact, while the matte one reduces reflections and finger marks.

BYD paint protection film — sills, pillars and boot lip

Clear BodyShield PPF film protects the door sills, door handle cups, headlights and boot lip from scratches caused by shoes and luggage, and shallow scratches on its surface heal by themselves. The pillars can be covered with clear film, the black BodyShield Black or the carbon-look BodyShield Carbon. The carbon version can also be chosen for the boot lip. If you carry bikes, crates or a dog in the boot, you can choose HeavyDuty — a 0.8 mm matte coating for the sills and boot lip that withstands brush and touchless car washes.

ZeroDrop and choosing films for your BYD

The ZeroDrop anti-rain mirror film has a hydrophilic coating: water spreads across it in a thin layer, so the mirror image stays clear. It is adhesive-free and safe for auto-dimming mirrors. When choosing, go by the full model name and powertrain version — the Seal and Seal U cuts are not interchangeable, and the films are model-specific and do not fit cars from other brands.
