Accessories for the Oppo Reno16 series

Four phones hide behind the Reno16 name, and they split into two different body sizes. That is the most important thing to establish before buying a case or glass — the name of the series alone is not enough to get the size right.

Two families in one series

• Reno16 and Reno16 Pro — a 6.32-inch screen, slimmer body
• Reno16 F and Reno16 FS — a 6.57-inch screen, a clearly larger body

The difference in diagonal translates into different body dimensions and a different layout of cut-outs — for the camera, the buttons and the charging port. A case cut for the Reno16 Pro will not close properly on the Reno16 F, and glass trimmed for the smaller screen leaves a visible margin on the larger one. So always check the full marking of your phone before choosing — the letter F or FS at the end of the name changes everything.

Types of cases

The range covers two approaches to protecting the body:

• Flexible cases — thin, transparent, keeping the original look of the phone and protecting it against scratches and light scuffs
• Rugged cases — thicker, with reinforced corners, designed for drops; available in several finishes

The choice depends on what you expect. If the phone mostly lies on a desk and in a pocket, the flexible variant is enough. If it often slips out of your hand or you work in the field, it makes more sense to pay for a construction with shock-absorbing corners.

Screen and camera protection

The screens across the series are flat, so tempered glass adheres over the whole surface and does not lift at the edges. That is usually a better choice than film, because it copes better with point impacts and feels nicer to the touch. Protective films remain an alternative where you care about a smaller thickness or want to secure the back of the body as well.

What to look out for

The camera island in this series stands above the plane of the back, so a case with a raised rim around the lenses really does protect the glass when you put the phone down screen up. If you use wireless charging, check the thickness of the cover — rugged variants can be thick enough to weaken power transfer.
