Galaxy A54 5G

Galaxy A54 5G — design features worth remembering

The Galaxy A54 5G belongs to the Samsung Galaxy A50 series. It has a flat 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1080 × 2340 resolution and the camera in a centred hole. The front and back are covered with Gorilla Glass 5. The body measures 158.2 × 76.7 × 8.2 mm, weighs about 202 g and is rated IP67.

The three cameras (50 MP main) have no shared island — each lens protrudes separately, by about 2 mm, which makes the phone wobble on a flat table without a case. The fingerprint reader is in the screen. The phone charges via USB-C at up to 25 W and has neither wireless charging nor a headphone jack.

Which case for the Galaxy A54 5G

The glass back and protruding lenses are two reasons to go for a case with a raised rim around the cameras. The range includes:

• original Samsung cases — silicone, clear, with a hand strap and flip cases with a window,
• hybrid and clear cases — rigid back and flexible frame, from Spigen, 3MK, PURO and Dux Ducis, among others,
• rugged cases — Spigen, Supcase and Urban Armor Gear, with clearly raised edges,
• wallet and flip cases — Tech-Protect, Spigen, PURO, Dux Ducis,
• cases with a magnetic ring — for attaching MagSafe holders and wallets,
• cases with a sliding camera cover — Nillkin.

You will also find cases from Ringke, Guess and BMW.

Tempered glass and film for the Galaxy A54 5G

Screen protection

The flat screen lets you choose tempered glass that covers the entire surface. There are also hybrid glass, privacy glass, protective films and an original Samsung film. Glass is offered by 3MK, Hofi, PanzerGlass, GrizzGlass and MyScreenProtector, among others. The in-display reader works with glass as long as it adheres without bubbles.

Lens protection

Because each lens protrudes separately, camera lens glass protects them from scratches caused by table tops and keys in your pocket.

What to look out for when choosing Galaxy A54 5G accessories

• Compatibility — accessories for the Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A55 5G are not interchangeable with the A54 — they differ in dimensions and camera placement.
• Magnets — the phone does not charge wirelessly, so a case with a ring is useful for MagSafe accessories, not for charging.
• Charging — for up to 25 W you need a USB-C PD charger with PPS and a USB-C to USB-C cable.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Galaxy A54 5G wobble on the table?

The reason is the three separately protruding lenses. A case with a rim higher than the cameras makes the phone lie steadily.

Does privacy glass work with the in-display reader?

Usually yes. After applying it, register your fingerprint again to shorten the reading time.
