Screen protectors for the iPhone 18

A film will not stop a heavy impact, and that is not what it is for. It takes the scratches from keys, coins and grit, reaches right to the edge of the display and stays practically invisible. Film or glass — when to pick which

It comes down to the kind of risk. If the phone regularly ends up on the floor, a rigid sheet makes more sense, because it spreads the impact energy and cracks instead of the display. The second argument is touch feel and looks. In exchange it has a shorter life: it is a consumable, replaced every few months.

Wet installation and working with a case

Hydrogel films go on wet. First degrease the screen, then spray it with the installation fluid from the kit, line the sheet up with the cut-outs and squeeze the water out with the squeegee, from the centre towards the edges. The material forgives corrections — as long as the surface is damp, the film can be slid around. Over the first day the sheet dries out and small milky patches disappear on their own, so there is no point trying to fix them straight away.

The thin layer does not clash with the edge of a case, which is an advantage over glass: nothing prises the rim up from a tall case wall. Just wait a few hours before putting the case on, so the adhesive sets across the whole surface.
