Tempered Glass iPhone 18 Pro Max
Tempered glass for iPhone 18 Pro Max is the most popular way to protect the display: a 9H sheet, an oleophobic coating and adhesive across the entire surface. You will find clear, privacy and matte versions here.
The Max variant has the longest sheet edge in the Pro family, and it is the edge that decides how well the installation holds. Glass made for the smaller Pro will not cover this screen and will misalign the cut-outs in the printed border.

Tempered glass for iPhone 18 Pro Max
Tempered glass works as a sacrificial layer: it takes the hit, spreads it across the whole surface and cracks instead of the display. On the heaviest model in the series that matters even more, because the greater the mass of the phone, the more energy goes into the point where it meets the ground. Replacing a shattered sheet costs a fraction of a screen repair, which is why glass is treated as a consumable rather than a purchase for years.
The specs that actually matter
- 9H hardness — this describes scratch resistance, not impact resistance. It is a value from a scratch hardness scale, not a measure of mechanical strength.
- Full glue adhesive — more dependable than adhesive only around the rim, which leaves an air cushion under the sheet and comes away in patches on impact.
- Thickness of around 0.3 mm — a sensible compromise between toughness and how much you feel the edge under your finger.
- 2.5D edges — the rounded rim of the sheet, thanks to which edge swipes do not catch on a lip.
- Oleophobic coating — it decides how quickly smudges appear on a large sheet and how easily they wipe off.
- Installation frame — with a sheet this long, lining it up by eye ends in a crooked fit; a frame positions the glass for you.
- Case-friendly profile — a sheet slightly narrower than the screen, so the frame of a case cannot prise it up.
Matching the Max variant
A rigid sheet cannot be stretched into place or trimmed, so any difference in dimensions rules the glass out straight away. A version for the iPhone 18 Pro will leave a bare strip of screen on the Max and shift the cut-outs in the printed border — display protection is one of those accessories that simply cannot be swapped between the Pro and Pro Max variants. For the same reason we do not assume compatibility with glass for the iPhone 17 Pro Max: a similar diagonal is not enough, what counts is the geometry of the bezels around the screen and the sensor layout at the top.
Installation step by step
- Wash your hands and work in a room with no draught — damp air keeps dust from floating around.
- Degrease the screen with an alcohol wipe, dry it with a microfibre cloth and lift the remaining dust with the tape from the kit.
- Fit the installation frame, peel the liner off the adhesive and lower the sheet without pressing it down.
- Touch the middle of the glass — the adhesive will spread towards the edges on its own.
- Push out any single bubbles with a cloth, from the centre outwards, in the first few minutes after installation.
The oleophobic coating is worn away by cleaning with strong alcohol and paper towels. For a daily wipe a dry microfibre cloth is enough.
Alternatives and extras
A thinner alternative is hybrid glass iPhone 18 Pro Max, and if you dislike any added thickness at all — a screen protector film. Choose the glass together with a shell from the iPhone 18 Pro Max cases category and a separate camera lens protector, because display protection does nothing for the lenses. The remaining types of protection sit in the iPhone 18 Pro Max category.
Frequently asked questions
Will glass from another model fit the iPhone 18 Pro Max?
Do not count on it. A rigid sheet cannot be trimmed, and the printed border has to match the sensor layout of a given model to the millimetre. Even a similar diagonal does not mean the same bezel geometry.
Does 9H hardness mean the screen will not crack in a fall?
No. The 9H scale describes scratch resistance, not impact strength. The glass is meant to crack itself — replacing it is far cheaper than replacing the display.
Will the glass lift once a case is fitted?
The risk exists with sheets that run all the way to the very edge, especially in shells with a tall frame. Case-friendly versions leave a margin and the problem disappears.
How do you apply glass without dust or bubbles?
Degrease the screen, lift the dust with tape, use the installation frame and lower the sheet without pressing — the adhesive will spread out from the centre. Push out any single bubbles with a cloth in the first few minutes.
