Galaxy Z Fold 7

Galaxy Z Fold 7 — what matters when choosing accessories

When folded, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm; unfolded it is 4.2 mm thick, and it weighs 215 g. The frame is aluminium, the back is covered with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and the cover screen with Gorilla Glass Victus Ceramic 2. The 8-inch inner display has a plastic surface that requires different protection from the glass on the outside. The phone is IP48-rated: it withstands submersion, but is less well protected against dust and grains of sand, which can get into the area around the hinge.

The model has different dimensions and a different camera layout from the Galaxy Z Fold 6, so accessories for its predecessor do not fit. Samsung also dropped S Pen support in the Fold 7.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 cases

A case for a foldable smartphone usually consists of two parts — one for the half with the cover screen and the other for the half with the cameras. Some models also cover the hinge. You can choose from:

• clear and thin cases that preserve the look and slimness of the phone,
• rugged cases with reinforced corners and a hinge cover,
• magnetic cases compatible with MagSafe,
• cases with a finger grip or kickstand, convenient for watching videos,
• flip cases and leather slip-in cases for those who prefer full screen coverage.

Cases are available from Samsung, Spigen, Ringke, Nillkin, Bizon, 3MK, Urban Armor Gear, Pitaka, Tech-Protect and Guess, among others.

Tempered glass and screen film for the Galaxy Z Fold 7

For the cover screen, tempered glass works well — clear, with a black frame or privacy glass that narrows the viewing angle. Some glass fits both the Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra — such compatibility is stated in the product name. The inner screen requires a flexible hydrogel or multi-layer film, because tempered glass would not withstand folding. Do not remove the factory protective layer from the inner screen yourself. The category also includes back films, sets for the front, back and inner screen, as well as matte and antimicrobial films. Screen protection is offered by 3MK, PanzerGlass, Spigen, Ringke, Uniq, GrizzGlass and Bizon, among others.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 camera glass

The island with the 200 MP main camera, 3x telephoto and ultra-wide camera protrudes above the back panel. It is protected by glass for individual lenses, frames for the whole island and covers for the entire module. When choosing a case, check whether its lip rises above the island — then the phone does not rest on its lenses when placed on a table.

Charging and extras for the Galaxy Z Fold 7

The Fold 7 charges via USB-C at 25 W and wirelessly at 15 W. There are no magnets in the body, so MagSafe accessories and magnetic wireless chargers require a case with a built-in ring or a stick-on magnetic ring. You will find other models in the series in the Galaxy Z Fold category.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Galaxy Z Fold 6 case fit the Fold 7?

No. The models differ in dimensions and camera placement, so you need a case designed for the Fold 7.

Does the Galaxy Z Fold 7 support the S Pen?

No. Samsung removed the digitizer layer from the screen to make the phone slimmer, so the Fold 7 does not work with the S Pen.
