ROG Phone 7

Asus ROG Phone 7 — what affects the choice of accessories

The ROG Phone 7 is a gaming smartphone with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen (165 Hz) protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. According to GSMArena, the body measures 173 × 77 × 10.3 mm and weighs 239 g; the frame is aluminium and the back is covered with Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is rated IP54 and has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and two USB-C ports — one at the bottom and one on the side, for landscape gaming with a cable or the AeroActive Cooler attached. On the right edge of the frame there are ultrasonic AirTrigger buttons that work like the triggers on a gamepad. Wired charging is rated at 65 W; there is no wireless charging.

ROG Phone 7 vs ROG Phone 7 Ultimate

The Ultimate version has an extra ROG Vision display on the back and an AeroActive Portal vent that works with the included cooler. The front screen is the same. Manufacturers make some films and glass separately for each version, while others are described as compatible with both — before buying, check the model name in the product description.

Glass and film for the ROG Phone 7 — screen protection for gaming

• Matte film — reduces glare and fingerprints, and your finger glides smoothly over it during long sessions.
• Gaming film — a thin film designed for fast gestures and precise touch.
• Hydrogel film — flexible, it adheres to the entire screen and hides minor scratches.
• Ceramic film — stiffer and scratch-resistant.
• Hybrid glass — thin and flexible, it does not crack like classic tempered glass.
• Matte privacy glass — limits how visible the screen is from the side, useful on public transport.

Thin protection does not noticeably change the screen's touch sensitivity, which matters at 165 Hz and in games that demand quick reactions.

Camera lens protector for the ROG Phone 7

The phone has a triple camera with a 50 MP main lens, a 13 MP ultra-wide and a macro lens. A camera lens protector guards the lenses against scratches when the phone lies on its back on a table, for example while gaming with a cable connected.

• Gaming accessories — gamepads, stands and other add-ons are in the gaming category.

Frequently asked questions

Does ROG Phone 6 glass fit the ROG Phone 7?

Do not assume so — choose protection described as compatible with the ROG Phone 7. Accessories for the predecessor are in the ROG Phone 6 category, and for the successor in the ROG Phone 8 category.

Which screen protection is most comfortable for gaming?

Gamers often choose a matte film because it reduces fingerprints and glare. If you prefer a glossy screen, go for hybrid glass.
