iPad Pro 11" M4 and M5 — dimensions and features that matter for accessories

The iPad Pro 11" 5th generation (M4) and 6th generation (M5) have an identical body: 249.7 × 177.5 × 5.3 mm and 444 g in the Wi-Fi version. It is a noticeably thinner design with slightly different proportions than the iPad Pro 11" 4th generation (247.6 × 178.5 × 5.9 mm), which is why cases for older models do not fit. The Ultra Retina XDR display with a tandem OLED panel has ProMotion at 10–120 Hz, and higher-end configurations offer nano-texture glass with a matte finish.

There is a Thunderbolt / USB 4 port on the bottom edge, a Smart Connector for keyboards on the back and a magnetic connector on the long side that holds and charges the Apple Pencil Pro. On the back there is a single 12 MP camera with a LiDAR scanner, and on the front a 12 MP TrueDepth camera with Face ID.

Which iPad Pro 11 M4 / M5 case should you choose?

• Folio cases with an exposed pencil connector — the cover puts the tablet to sleep and wakes it, and the pencil attached to the side charges without being taken out of the case.
• Cases with a Pencil pocket — the pencil is stored in the frame or under the cover. Choose models that still let it charge.
• Magnetic cases — the cover attaches to the tablet with magnets and is easy to detach when you want to use a Smart Connector keyboard.
• Rugged cases — with reinforced corners, often with a handle or stand. They protect the slim 5.3 mm body in a fall.
• Keyboard cases — with a Bluetooth keyboard and a stand, for working on the tablet like on a laptop.

Cases for this model are offered by ESR, Spigen, Bizon, Urban Armor Gear, Tech-Protect, Mercury and Uniq, among others.

Tempered glass and films for the iPad Pro 11" 5th and 6th generation

Tempered and hybrid glass protect the screen from scratches and cracks. Paper-like and matte films reduce reflections and offer resistance close to paper — some of them come as a magnetic overlay that you remove for watching films. There is also privacy glass, which limits the visibility of the image from the side. Screen protection should have a cut-out or margin for the TrueDepth camera in the bezel. Owners of the nano-texture version usually do not need a matte film, because the screen already reduces glare.

What to look for when choosing

• Look for the “iPad Pro 11 2024/2025”, “M4/M5” or “5th/6th generation” label.
• Do not confuse this model with the iPad Air 11" — it has different dimensions and a different camera layout.
• For drawing you need Apple Pencil Pro or Apple Pencil (USB-C). Older Apple pencils do not work — you will find other models in the styluses for phones and tablets category.

The larger version is covered by the iPad Pro 13" category, and all generations by the iPad Pro category.
