Adjustable Freewell ND Filter

The adjustable Freewell ND filter combines a VND (Variable ND) filter with a Mist diffusion filter, providing greater control over light and giving recordings a more cinematic character. The adjustment range of 2–5 Stops (ND4–ND32) allows for easy exposure adaptation to conditions from overcast skies to standard sunlight, without the need to change filters. The Hard Stop system defines the extreme values of adjustment, eliminating the risk of exceeding the working range and experiencing cross-polarization effects. The filter is made from Pure High Definition optical glass with a multi-layer coating (18 layers), and additional protections against dust, scratches, and greasy marks enhance its durability during everyday use.

ND Adjustment and Diffusion Effect in One Filter

The Freewell filter combines two functions in one accessory, eliminating the need for a separate diffusion filter and adjustable ND filter. The variable neutral density allows for smooth control of the amount of light reaching the sensor, making it easier to maintain proper exposure settings while filming and photographing. At the same time, the Mist layer subtly softens the image and gently diffuses light around its sources, creating a more cinematic look to shots without losing a significant amount of detail. This solution is suitable for both video production and creative portrait or outdoor photography.

Hard Stop – Quick and Reliable Adjustment

The implemented Hard Stop mechanism limits the filter's rotation range to working values of 2–5 Stops, allowing for quick and repeatable setting of the appropriate level of dimming. This solution eliminates the possibility of entering a range that causes cross-polarization effects, known from many classic VND filters. This will be particularly appreciated by those recording dynamic materials in motion (such as run & gun), where every second counts and there is no time to change fixed filters. An additional advantage is the lack of vignetting when working with lenses with a focal length of 16 mm and above.
