Three items from this table deserve a comment. Dual-frequency GPS is responsible for the accuracy of the track in the city, between tall buildings. UWB (ultra-wideband) is precise short-range location technology used, among other things, for unlocking the car.
The third is satellite SOS, which is a call for help via satellite outside the range of the cellular network. In Poland, the feature will work if Google makes it available in our market.
A thickness of 12.3 mm is exactly the same as in its predecessor. The case has not grown by a millimeter, which has very specific consequences for accessories; we will return to this below.

What changes compared to Pixel Watch 4?
Let’s be clear: Pixel Watch 5 is an iteration, not a generational leap. The same processor, the same case, the same screen. The memory changes, the battery increases by a few percent, and a new version of the system appears.

The most important item in this table is RAM. Two gigabytes in Watch 4 were a bottleneck for Gemini features. The assistant operates locally on the watch, and the memory ran out faster than it should have. Three gigabytes should eliminate stutters when switching apps.
The rest of the changes are cosmetic. The battery is 2% larger, with the same declared battery life. The doubled data memory, 64 GB instead of 32 GB, will mainly be useful for offline music. Wear OS 7 will also come to the fourth generation in a regular update.
However, the price increases by 50 USD. Google does not explain why; it is most likely due to the doubled memory and rising component costs.
Battery and charging — 30 or 40 hours
Choosing a size is primarily a choice of endurance. The difference reaches ten hours, which in practice means one full night of sleep tracking.

That’s a good result for a watch. A quarter of an hour in the shower is enough to last until the evening. And indeed, in short top-ups, the Pixel Watch is most conveniently used for sleep tracking.
The 45 mm version with power saving mode lasts up to 72 hours. You can take it for a weekend in the mountains without a charger.
Health and sensors — what the new Google watch measures
The set of sensors is complete and matches what the predecessor offers:
- Optical heart rate sensor with notifications for irregular heart rhythm
- SpO2 — blood oxygen saturation
- ECG — single-lead electrocardiogram
- cEDA — continuous measurement of skin conductance, stress response indicator
- Skin temperature sensor — night measurement
- Altimeter, barometer, and compass

The whole thing is tied together by Wear OS 7 with Gemini. The assistant works on the watch, so questions like „How much did I sleep this week compared to last week?” don’t require reaching for the phone.

Most likely yes, and this is the most important practical information in this article. The case retains the dimensions of 41 and 45 mm and a thickness of 12.3 mm, just like its predecessor.
Straps
In Google watches, the compatibility of the strap is determined by the size of the case, not the generation. The attachment has not changed since the first Pixel Watch.

You have a Pixel Watch 2 or 3 — yes, it’s worth it. You skip two generations of sensors, get a screen that is twice as bright compared to the second generation, and a realistically longer battery life.
Buying your first Android watch — wait until August 12, even if you ultimately buy the fourth one. The release of the fifth is the moment when the Pixel Watch 4 noticeably drops in price, and accessories for it are already available immediately.
