The two-piece construction fits snugly around the charging case and maintains the device's compact profile. The case does not restrict access to the essential functions of the earbuds, allowing for easy opening of the lid and the use of wired and wireless charging without the need to remove the case. The bottom part of the construction features precisely made cutouts for the USB-C port and speakers. The variant compatible with AirPods 4 with ANC uses a larger bottom opening, which allows for proper audibility of the speaker integrated with the charging case. The entire design has been developed with the aim of maintaining a slim form and precise fit to the earbuds' case.

Leather Construction

The case is made from full-grain leather. The material was developed in collaboration with a Danish tannery and finished using an aniline method, which allows the natural surface texture to be preserved. Over time, the leather develops a patina and gradually changes its appearance with use. The natural finish also means that minor signs of use and scratches may appear, especially at the beginning of its use. The construction combines a layer of leather with a polycarbonate frame that maintains the stability of the entire case. This allows the case to retain a rigid structure while maintaining a thin profile and compact dimensions.

Internal Protection

The inner part of the case is finished with soft microfiber, separating the AirPods 4 case from the stiffer structural elements. This material helps limit direct contact between the device and the polycarbonate frame, reducing the risk of minor scratches resulting from everyday use. The lining is tailored to the shape of the charging case, ensuring that the case maintains a stable fit without excessive looseness. The use of a multi-layer construction that includes leather, polycarbonate, and microfiber allows for a slim build while maintaining precise fitting of all case elements.

Charging and Features

The Modern Leather Case maintains compatibility with Qi and MagSafe charging. The design allows for wireless charging without removing the case, and the cutout for the USB-C port also allows for convenient connection of the charging cable. However, the case does not have built-in magnets and does not attach magnetically to MagSafe chargers. The front part of the case features a fiber optic that transmits the signal from the LED of the charging station, allowing the charging status to remain visible when the case is closed. The design is also equipped with an integrated lanyard attachment point, enabling the earbuds to be clipped to a bag or organizer without the need for additional adapters.
