Moto G72 — what matters when choosing accessories

The Moto G72 measures 160.5 × 74.4 × 7.9 mm and weighs about 166 g. The frame and back are plastic with a matte finish, and the body has an IP52 rating — it will survive splashes, but not submersion. On the back there is an island with three cameras: a 108 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide and a 2 MP macro. It protrudes enough that the phone rocks on a flat table without a case, and the lens covers are the first to touch the surface.

In the Moto G70 Series family, every model has different dimensions and a different camera layout. Cases for the Moto G71 5G with its 6.4-inch screen or for the larger Moto G75 do not fit the G72 — choose accessories labelled for this model.

Tempered glass and screen film for the Moto G72

The fingerprint reader sits under the screen, so the protector has to pass the image of your fingerprint through to the sensor. After applying glass or film, it is worth deleting the saved fingerprint and adding it again — recognition usually works more reliably then. You can choose from:

• tempered glass — hard and clear, with or without a black frame that masks the edges,
• hybrid glass — thin and flexible, less prone to chipping at the edges,
• hydrogel and ceramic films — adhere to the entire screen surface, and small bubbles usually disappear within a day,
• matte films and privacy glass — reduce glare or narrow the viewing angle,
• antimicrobial films — with a layer that limits the growth of bacteria on the surface.

They are complemented by lens protectors for the camera island and back films, which protect the matte back from scratches when you carry the phone without a case.

Cases for the Moto G72 — types and fit

• clear TPU cases — add little thickness and leave the body colour visible,
• cases with a finger ring — the ring on the back makes one-handed use easier and works as a stand for watching videos,
• flip cases — cover the screen in a bag and have card pockets,
• carbon-texture cases — slim, with a surface that does not slip out of your hand,

Choose a case with a lip that rises above the screen and the camera island, and with cut-outs for the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the USB-C port. The Moto G72 does not support wireless charging — it charges by cable at up to 30 W, so case thickness has no effect on charging. For fast charging, wall chargers with a USB-C output will come in handy.

Is the Moto G72 waterproof?

Not fully. The IP52 rating means limited protection against dust and water drops. A flip case will shield the screen from rain, but it will not protect the phone if it is submerged.
