Galaxy A42 5G

Samsung Galaxy A42 5G — features that matter when choosing accessories

The Galaxy A42 5G is the first 5G model in the Samsung Galaxy A40 series. It has a flat 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with HD+ resolution (720 × 1600) and the front camera in an Infinity-U teardrop notch. The body measures 164.4 × 75.9 × 8.6 mm and weighs about 193 g. The back is glossy plastic with a subtle pattern that easily picks up fingerprints.

The four cameras (48 MP main) sit in a square module in the top left corner; the glass over the lenses protrudes slightly above the back. The fingerprint reader is built into the screen. The phone has a USB-C port with charging up to 15 W and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Galaxy A42 5G cases — what to choose

The glossy back scratches and smudges quickly, which is why most users go for a case. You can choose from:

• clear cases — very thin, e.g. from PURO and Spigen,
• rugged cases — matte plastic with shock-absorbing corners, from Spigen, 3MK and Nillkin among others,
• flip cases — Dux Ducis, Nillkin, Tech-Protect and original Samsung cases with a window in the flap,
• wallet cases — with card pockets, also with a detachable case,
• cases with a sliding camera cover — they cover the square island.

Tempered glass and screen protector film for the Galaxy A42 5G

Screen glass

The flat screen makes tempered and hybrid glass easy to apply. The range also includes matte privacy glass and films, including film with an antibacterial layer. You will find screen protection from 3MK, PanzerGlass, GrizzGlass and Bizon, among others. Because the fingerprint reader is in the screen, the glass must sit flush across the entire surface.

Camera and back

The protruding glass of the camera module is protected by a separate camera or lens glass. If you like using the phone without a case, a back film will reduce scratches and fingerprints on the glossy panel.

How to choose accessories for the Galaxy A42 5G

• Compatibility — accessories for the Galaxy A41 and Galaxy A40 do not fit; these are much smaller phones with a different camera layout.
• Case thickness — the phone is large, so with a flip case consider the total thickness in your pocket.
• Charging — a USB-C charger is all you need; USB-C to USB-C cables fit.
• In the car — with a width of almost 76 mm (without a case), check the clamp range of your car holder.
