LG Velvet: dimensions and design

The LG Velvet measures 167.2 × 74.1 × 7.9 mm and weighs 180 g. The body consists of an aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass on the front and back, curved symmetrically along the side edges. The phone is rated IP68 and claims compliance with the MIL-STD-810G standard. The 6.8-inch P-OLED screen with a resolution of 1080 × 2460 is gently curved along the long sides, and the fingerprint reader sits under the display.

There is no classic camera island on the back. The three lenses (a 48 MP main, an 8 MP ultra-wide and a depth sensor) and the flash have separate openings arranged vertically, from largest to smallest. The phone was available in 5G and LTE versions with the same body.

LG Velvet cases: what to look for

The rounded glass back is slippery and easy to scratch, so it is worth choosing a case for the LG Velvet with a noticeable lip around the camera column, as each lens protrudes slightly above the back. LG Velvet screen film

The screen edges curve down into the frame, so a flat protector will not stick to the sides. A full-coverage hydrogel film for the LG Velvet covers the entire front including the curves. Thoroughly degreasing the screen makes application easier, and small bubbles usually disappear within a day. After applying it, register your fingerprint again, because the reader works through the film layer.

Charging and other accessories for the LG Velvet

The Velvet charges at up to 25 W by cable (USB Power Delivery and Quick Charge 4) and up to 9 W wirelessly. A regular Qi wireless charger is therefore enough, and for fast charging use a USB-C wall charger with PD support. Slim hybrid cases do not interfere with wireless charging.

Accessories for other phones from the brand can be found in the LG category, including the LG V and LG G and Q series. Cases from those models do not fit the Velvet, as each has different dimensions and a different camera layout.

Can you apply flat glass to the LG Velvet?

Flat glass will not cover the curved edges. A flexible full-coverage hydrogel film works better on this screen.
