Controllers and gamepads — which one to choose for your platform?
A good controller is all about matching your platform, play style, and where you game — on the sofa, at a desk, or on the go. Controllers and gamepads at homescreen.pl cover models for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S/One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile gamepads for Android and iOS smartphones.
The range is built around four brands: GameSir (29 models), iPega (43 models), Backbone (8 models) and Baseus (4 models). Each has a distinct specialisation worth knowing before you buy.
GameSir — Xbox, PC and mobile controllers with Hall Effect technology
GameSir is aimed at players who demand precision and long-term mechanical reliability. The flagship GameSir G7 Pro is a Bluetooth wireless controller compatible with Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and Android. The key difference from cheaper alternatives: joysticks based on Hall Effect sensors instead of potentiometers — this eliminates the drift problem that eventually affects every conventional controller.
- GameSir G7 HE — wired, Xbox/PC, Hall Effect joysticks, polling rate up to 1000 Hz
- GameSir G7 Pro — Bluetooth, Xbox Series X/S/One, PC, Android; wireless mode up to 15 h
- GameSir G7 SE — Bluetooth, Xbox/PC, lighter variant of the G7 series
- GameSir G8 Galileo / G8+ — mobile controller USB-C or Bluetooth; smartphone slides between the grips, Hall Effect joysticks
- GameSir X3 Pro / X5 Lite / X5s — mobile controllers USB-C or Bluetooth for Android and iOS
- GameSir T4n / T4n Lite / T4n Nova / T4n SuperNova Pro — wireless gamepads for PC/Android in various variants
- GameSir K1 Flux / T3 Tegenaria Lite — wired PC controllers, plug-and-play
iPega — wide portfolio for PS4, PS5, Switch and mobile
iPega offers one of the broadest controller ranges in this category — over 40 models split across several lines. It is a brand known for affordable prices and wide colour availability, making it a popular choice for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch players.
iPega controllers for PlayStation 4
The PG-P4 series includes controllers with a PS4 touchpad (PG-P4010, PG-P4022B, PG-P4023B/C/D) available in black, white, pink, purple and red. Models PG-P4019A and PG-P4020A are classic gamepads without a touchpad — a budget option for players who do not need that feature.
iPega controllers for Nintendo Switch
The PG-SW series: PG-SW001B and PG-SW038A/S are dedicated Nintendo Switch controllers. The PG-9 series with a phone grip (PG-9023s, PG-9083A/B/s) lets you clip a smartphone between the grips — for mobile gaming and streaming. Among themed models you will find PG-9076 Batman, PG-9128 Black Kingkong, PG-9129 Demon Z, and the Spiderman and Wolverine series (PG-9210/9211A/B).
iPega controllers for PS5
The PG-P5 series includes controllers for PlayStation 5 — compatible with the console, without DualSense haptic features, but at an affordable price as a second controller.
Backbone One — your smartphone becomes a console
Backbone One is a different kind of controller: instead of holding a gamepad and phone separately, you fold the smartphone inside the controller. The phone clips into the centre; the controller draws power from the device battery (no internal battery — constant connection via the charging port). Physical buttons on both sides, full-size analogue sticks, triggers and bumpers.
- Backbone One for iPhone — Lightning or USB-C version (iPhone 15 and newer); available in PlayStation edition (cross/square/triangle/circle) and Xbox edition (A/B/X/Y)
- Backbone One for Android — USB-C; PlayStation and Xbox editions; compatible with most Android smartphones via USB-C
Backbone One works great for game streaming (Xbox Cloud Gaming, PS Remote Play) and native mobile games with controller support.
How to choose a controller — quick guide
Before buying, it helps to answer a few questions:
- Platform: PS4/PS5 — look for iPega PG-P4/PG-P5 series or GameSir models compatible with PlayStation; Xbox/PC — GameSir G7 HE/Pro/SE; Nintendo Switch — iPega PG-SW or PG-9; mobile Android/iOS — GameSir G8, X3 Pro, X5s or Backbone One
- Wired vs wireless: wired (G7 HE, K1 Flux, T3 Tegenaria) have zero latency; Bluetooth wireless is more comfortable for the sofa
- Joystick drift: if that is a priority — choose GameSir with Hall Effect (G7 HE, G7 Pro, G8 Galileo)
- Mobile clip-on vs dedicated: Backbone One is a closed iOS/Android ecosystem; GameSir G8/X3/X5 are more flexible solutions

Frequently asked questions
Which PS4 controller should I choose — iPega or the original DualShock 4?
The original DualShock 4 offers a touchpad, built-in speaker, full compatibility with every PS4 game and excellent ergonomics — but at a high price. iPega PG-P4 controllers (e.g. PG-P4022B with touchpad) are a more affordable alternative with a touchpad that works well as a second pad for multiplayer. If you mostly play solo narrative titles, an iPega with touchpad is a smart choice; for competitive gaming or VR modes, the original is worth considering.
How does Backbone One work — does it drain the phone battery?
Yes — Backbone One has no internal battery. The controller connects via the Lightning or USB-C port and draws power from the phone. This means no charging the controller itself, but longer gaming sessions will drain the phone battery faster than normal. On USB-C models you can charge the phone simultaneously through the additional port in the controller.
GameSir or iPega — which is better for mobile gaming?
For mobile gaming GameSir G8 Galileo or X5s is technically superior: Hall Effect joysticks, dedicated software and broad game compatibility via button mapping. iPega PG-9083A/B/s with a phone grip is a cheaper option without those advanced features, but good enough for casual platformers or racing games. Backbone One makes the most sense for streaming Xbox Cloud Gaming or PS Remote Play on iPhone or Android.
