Protection for the foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

Galaxy Z Flip is one of Samsung's two foldable series — a compact smartphone that fits in any pocket when folded. The current models — Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 6 — feature a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display on the inside and an additional external display for notification previews. Cases for a foldable smartphone — what to look out for?

Galaxy Z Flip cases come in two types. Two-piece cases consist of two halves mounted on each panel — they do not block the hinge and allow for free folding. One-piece cases with a flexible spine at the hinge provide more complete protection, but may slightly increase the thickness of the device.

Popular brands include Samsung (official cases with a ring or strap), Spigen and Ringke — they offer models dedicated to the dimensions of each Flip generation.

Screen protectors

Galaxy Z Flip has two screens to protect — the inner foldable (factory film + optional replacement) and the outer compact display. Only hydrogel or TPU films should be used on the inner screen — tempered glass could crack during folding. Classic 9H tempered glass can be applied to the small outer screen.

No — the inner screen of foldable smartphones requires flexible films (hydrogel or TPU). Rigid tempered glass could crack or damage the panel during folding.

Does a Z Flip 6 case fit the Z Flip 7?

No — the Flip 7 has different dimensions and camera layout compared to the Flip 6. A case dedicated to the specific generation is required.
