iPad 10.2" 2019, 7th gen.

Accessories for iPad 10.2-inch (2019, 7th generation)

The iPad 7th generation is a 2019 Apple tablet — the first iPad with a 10.2-inch screen and a Smart Connector for attaching a keyboard. The A10 Fusion chip runs everyday apps smoothly, and support for Apple Pencil 1st gen opens up drawing and note-taking.

Case compatibility

The iPad 7th gen (2019) and iPad 8th gen (2020) have almost identical dimensions (250.6 x 174.1 x 7.5 mm). Many cases are labelled as compatible with both generations. The iPad 9th gen (2021) has the same dimensions but a slightly thicker body (7.5 mm) — cases usually fit too.

Accessory types

• Smart cases — tri-fold cover, automatic sleep, stand function
• Bluetooth keyboard cases — turn the tablet into a laptop for work
• 9H tempered glass — protection for the Retina screen
• Matte films — reduce glare, useful with Apple Pencil
• Rugged cases — reinforced protection for kids and outdoor work

What to look out for

The iPad 7th gen uses Apple Pencil 1st generation with Lightning — the stylus does not attach magnetically to the side of the tablet, so it is worth choosing a case with a Pencil holder so you do not lose it. The Smart Connector (3 pins on the side) lets you connect a keyboard without Bluetooth.

Newer models: iPad 8th gen (2020), iPad 9th gen (2021), iPad 10th gen (2022).
